Pipes carry liquids between Pumps and Liquid Vents. They do not act like physical channels in the simulation: they are non-solid, can overlap other placed blocks, and only interact with the two fluid endpoint buildings.
Sandustry Pipe facts
| Property | Confirmed value |
|---|---|
| Connects | Pump and Liquid Vent |
| Supported liquids | All except Lava |
| Network | Shared inputs and outputs |
| Placement | Can overlap other blocks |
| Removal tool | Pipe Remover |
Input and output flow
Read the flow together with the placement rules below. In Sandustry, the correct material can still fail when it enters from the wrong side, at the wrong speed, or in the wrong physical state.
How the Pipe works
A continuous Pipe can connect several Pumps and Vents. Every input and output belongs to the shared network, so multiple liquid types are distributed across all outputs rather than staying on separate routes. Lava cannot enter. Pipes hidden behind other structures remain present and require the dedicated Pipe Remover tool.
Recommended factory layout
Use one visually and logically separate network per liquid. Label or route systems so later construction does not accidentally bridge them. Equip a Pipe-related tool to reveal hidden segments behind other blocks before diagnosing a connection or removing old infrastructure.
Common Pipe problems
| Symptom | Likely cause or check |
|---|---|
| Every Vent outputs a mixture | Two liquid sources share one connected Pipe network. |
| A Pipe seems to vanish behind a machine | Overlapping blocks hide it; equip Pipe, Pump, Vent, or Pipe Remover to reveal it. |
| Ordinary demolition does not remove it | Pipes specifically require the Pipe Remover tool. |
