The Kinetic Press closes the Residue recovery loop and begins the plant chain. Unlike the Shaker, its valid conversion is guaranteed: one Burnt Residue becomes one Gold and one Seed, but only after a sufficiently long fall.
Sandustry Kinetic Press facts
| Property | Confirmed value |
|---|---|
| Input | Burnt Residue |
| Required fall | 25 or more blocks |
| Output | 1 Gold + 1 Seed |
| Blocks liquid | Yes |
| Blocks gas | Yes |
Input and output flow
Read the flow together with the placement rules below. In Sandustry, the correct material can still fail when it enters from the wrong side, at the wrong speed, or in the wrong physical state.
How the Kinetic Press works
Burnt Residue must drop from at least 25 blocks above the impact surface. A shorter fall leaves the pixel resting on top. Unrelated solids behave the same way and block later input. Successful outputs pass through and fall from the bottom of the building.
Recommended factory layout
Design the vertical shaft before surrounding the press with other machines. Keep the fall uninterrupted and add angled Launchers or another clearing route across the top for rejected pixels. Below, split Gold toward a Collector and Seed toward a controlled Water reaction.
Common Kinetic Press problems
| Symptom | Likely cause or check |
|---|---|
| Input rests on top | The measured fall is too short or an obstacle interrupted acceleration. |
| The press worked once and stopped | A rejected or foreign pixel is covering the impact point. |
| Gold and Seed are hard to separate | Provide space below the press and use their downstream roles instead of one mixed bin. |
