Burnt Residue is the recoverable fraction left after Residue burns. It connects the early Gold factory to the plant branch because every successful Kinetic Press conversion produces both currency and Seed. The press step is deterministic, but only when its impact requirement is met.

How Burnt Residue works
One Burnt Residue must fall at least 25 blocks onto a Kinetic Press. A valid impact converts it into one Gold and one Seed, which pass through and fall from the bottom. If the material starts too low, it simply rests on top and can block later drops. Other solids also remain on the press surface.
How to use Burnt Residue in a factory
Reserve vertical space before placing the press and keep its drop shaft free of launchers, ledges, or mixed solids. Build a clearing route across the top for invalid material. Below the press, separate Gold toward a Collector and Seed toward Water and a Planter Box.
Common Burnt Residue problems
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Burnt Residue sits on the press | The drop was below 25 blocks or its fall was interrupted. |
| New input stops converting | A failed pixel or unrelated solid is blocking the impact surface. |
| Only one output is visible | Gold and Seed may have mixed below the press; give both a clear collection area. |
